Patrick Sciarratta - The Keynote Speaker for the 4th Annual Global Learning Conference

The keynote speaker for the 4th Annual Global Learning Conference at WSU this November 11th, will be Patrick Sciarratta. Patrick is the Executive Director of the Friendship Ambassador''s Foundation (FAF). FAF (www.faf.org) is based in New York.

Patrick Sciarratta has internationally recognized experience directing and administering multifaceted, cultural programming while also a noted speaker and educator in the areas of cultural diplomacy and nonprofit arts management. He has strong leadership qualities, solid development success, and consistently good staff support and student rapport. One of his major objectives as Executive Director of FAF has been to translate an extensive international record of achievement toward new and challenging efforts within an academic or diplomatic arena.

He is responsible for all aspects of daily operations, including program development, conference and tour planning, public relations, staff supervision, fund-raising, and board reporting. In 2003 he was elected as a Board Member of the United Nations NGO/DPI Executive Committee, (Department of Public Information). In this role, he assists in planning UN NGO/DPI events and attends to the General Assembly. Co-Editor, NGO Reporter. He is creator and organizer of the Annual Youth Assembly at the United Nations, sponsored in part by the missions of the United Kingdom, Bosnia, Tanzania, Slovenia, Malaysia, and others. This free event attracts hundreds annually to UN service. Patrick is a member of the National Council, UN Foundation; member, Council of Organizations,UNA/USA: Mr Sciarratta speaks on behalf of the UN through these appointments.

Patrick Sciarratta formed, funded, and directed the post-war Balkan Youth Reconciliation program (Flagship Partner/UNESCO). This was recognized by CNN, in the New York Times, and global leaders. August 2000 - August 2001. He was Director, Lions Clubs International September 11th Camps for Children of the Victims. Currently producing third year of the sponsored series. The camps employ the arts as a tool for healing and peace advocacy. He has been a speaker for FAF internationally on a variety of issues. See www.faf.org for current topics. Guest appearances at national and international conferences as moderator, speaker, and panelist on the topic of Cultural Diplomacy. Mr Sciarratta was appointed by President Clinton to the first-ever White House Conference on Travel and Tourism in 1995 and was invited as Official Observer to the 4th U.N. Conference on Women in Beijing, also in 1995.

Prior to working for the United Nations, Patrick served as Assistant Dean of Humanities at Hunter College - City University of New York, Director from 1987 to 1993; Director of Campus Events and Student Activities at Elizabeth Seton College from 1985 to 1987; Resident Director of the Israel Festival in 1984 and Director of the Arts Center, Palenville Interarts.

He has served as a faculty and adjunct faculty member for the State University of New York, New Bulgaria University, New York University, C.W. Post College, Adelphi University and St John''s University. He has a Master of Arts from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts from the City University of New York. Mr Sciarratta has given keynote presentations at a number of conferences and has contributed to and edited a number of publications. He is the recipient of a number of awards and grants.
