- Global Trivia Champions
Four teams competed in this year’s Global Trivia Challenge, which focused on Central Asia. The Challenge comprised 10 rounds of 10 questions concerning the Geography, History, Leaders, Flags, Maps, Sports, Arts & Entertainment and Satellite Imagery of this little known region of the world. Google Earth was used for the first time to present satellite views of different historical places in the region. Each year, the Global Trivia Challenge focuses on a different region of the world. Previous nights dealt with India and with Africa.

- Defining and Developing Global Graduate Attributes
Dr. Rimmington presented a case study of University/Industry collaboration in defining and developing Global Graduates – a Videoconference to the University of Melbourne, Australia.

- Kansas in the World Award Winners
Kansas in the World Awards for Excellence in International Education in Schools for 2006 were presented to Shawnee Mission South High School and Southwest Junior High School, Lawrence at the recent KSDE Conference in Wichita. The awards comprise a plaque and $1,000. These awards recognize one elementary/middle school and one high school, each year that show a commitment to increasing international learning across the curriculum.

- Keynote Attracts Attention in Graz, Austria
Dr. Rimmington presented the Keynote Address to the 2nd International Conference on Intercultural Communication on Friday, April 7th, in Graz, Austria. The introduction of this new and different approach to improving intercultural communication competence attracted a great deal of attention from the audience. Dr. Rimmington was interviewed by Austrian public radio to explain the significance of the Cage Painting theory for preparing Global Graduates.

- Global Challenges Conference a Success
In 2006, instead of holding the Global Learning Conference at Wichita State University, support was directed towards collaboration with Friends University, Kansas Newman University and Butler Community College to stage the Global Challenges Conference. It was held at Friends University. This conference attracted Fulbright Fellows from around the world.

- Global Presentation of Mechanical Engineering Design
David Lynn, Ryan Loucks and Jacob Wallace, members of one or 7 design teams in the ME 662 Mechanical Engineering Design course at Wichita State University presented their finished design to a combined Wichita, Kansas and Moscow, Russian audience on Thursday, May 4th. In Moscow, Dr Stanislav Pogrebnyak and Alexander Vasiliev, Chief Engineer, from Progresstech in Moscow along with 4 members of a team at the Moscow Aviation Technology Institute (MATI) joined the presentation by videoconference.

A 30-minute video documentary on Global Learning was produced in partnership with KPTS and City Arts, thanks to Dale Goter and Stacey Jenkins.

- Global Learning and Engineering 2020
Under the leadership of the new Dean of Engineering, a Working Group on Engineering 2020 has been meeting to formulate enhancements to the curriculum that will lead to more opportunities for students to participate in leadership, research, service learning, internship, interdisciplinary studies, international exchange activities and global learning.
