Four teams competed in this year’s Global Trivia Challenge, which focused on Central Asia. The Challenge comprised 10 rounds of 10 questions concerning the Geography, History, Leaders, Flags, Maps, Sports, Arts & Entertainment and Satellite Imagery of this little known region of the world. Google Earth was used for the first time to present satellite views of different historical places in the region. Each year, the Global Trivia Challenge focuses on a different region of the world. Previous nights dealt with India and with Africa.
The Global Trivia Challenge is an annual event that is a part of the Global Learning Center’s monthly program, designed to raise awareness of global issues in the Wichita community. Proceeds from the Trivia night and other events go toward building an endowment, started by Howard and Jeanne Johnston, founders of the Global Learning Center. The endowment supports participation by students from Wichita and surrounding institutions in the United Nations Anniversary Banquet that is held each year in October.
Plans are underway to make the Trivia questions available online as a learning resource for educational institutions.
Annual reports are available online and as PDF files
