Dr. Rimmington presented the Keynote Address to the 2nd International Conference on Intercultural Communication on Friday, April 7th, in Graz, Austria. The introduction of this new and different approach to improving intercultural communication competence attracted a great deal of attention from the audience. Dr. Rimmington was interviewed by Austrian public radio to explain the significance of the Cage Painting theory for preparing Global Graduates. It represents an alternative to the traditional use of cultural “lens” theory, which can result in oversimplification and stereotyping of other cultures.

A research paper by Drs Alagic, Gibson and Rimmington was also presented. It included preliminary results from the application of the Cage Painting Simulation. For more information see the http://gl.wichita.edu/ bibliography for manuscripts of latest publications. A workshop on the Cage Painting Simulation and development of a global scenario database is planned for the 3rd International Conference on Intercultural Communication, to be held at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad in Gujarat Province of India in October, 2006.
