Global Learning and NCA Criterion 4c

Posted 4:41PM - Friday, June16, 2006

Wichita State University, under the leadership of Dr Nancy Snyder, is preparing for an accreditation visit by the North Central Accreditation Higher Learning Commission in 2008. Among the criteria to be satisfied is 4c, which is concerned with preparedness of our graduates for a more diverse world that makes more use of technology and which is highly interconnected and interdependent on a global scale. The Global Learning program and its focus on modern communication technologies and on continual improvement of intercultural communication competence through the development of multiple perspectives has an important role to play in relation to this criterion. Integration of global learning experiences across the curriculum will help meet all three sub-criteria because it involves use of the latest communication technologies to connect to people of a broader range of cultural backgrounds and facilitates a better awareness of the perspectives of other ethnic and cultural groups within our own society.
